Creation vs Evolution

The debate between creation and evolution may not be that old in the perspective of time, but the motivation of the argument is as old as creation itself. The challenge being debated is not about our grand parents being monkeys or men, rather, it is weather or not God is who He says He is. The consequences of one’s conclusion in this matter while alive on earth can have a great bearing on the condition of their soul in eternity as well. It is an issue that begs an answer, but one given in compassion.

In our culture the debate is usually posed as science verses religion. Science being the empirical, factual and un-biased truth, opposed by religion, portrayed as a fairy tale written by a bunch of old bearded cooks a couple thousand years ago. But there is a stirring in the scientific community. As time goes on and discovery continues, the theory of evolution is continually being assaulted by some very troubling facts, that if taken at face value, would all but prove the theory wrong, and cause it to be cast off along with the flat earth theory and many other formerly held scientific assumptions. Science vs religion? No Faith vs faith.

Just to touch on a couple things, we are first presented with a growing understanding of the sheer complexity of life on the smallest cellular and genetic levels. It is becoming more and more understood that it is wholly impossible for these things to arrange themselves at random. Evolution is also confronted with the issues presented by a complete lac of physical evidence in the form of fossils or any other form that cold support evolution; accept for those that have been proven false or fraudulent. And lastly we see the sciences of geology, Microbiology, volcanology, botany and cryptozoology, and others all contributing to punch so many holes in the cheese of evolution that there remains no cheese left to bite.

The fact is that more and more well respected scientists at the front of many fields are putting a great deal of distance between their names and the theory of evolution. Some do it publicly while some prefer to be subtle in order to avoid the backlash of religious zeal from evolution loyalists. But the truth is that over the coming years, we will see the scientific community continue to abandon evolution further, whereas those who’s independence from God depends on it, cling to the theory all the more.

For the theory of evolution has long been used as the best reason not to believe the Bible is true. In many ways it has taken on a religious like following all its own, and it is defended as such. The key that Christians must understand is that the challenge of evolution is not one that God has been surprised by. And as with many other challenges to His church, those who seek His truth will find it, but those who’s feet stray to the right and to the left will be swept away. Now Satan would love for us to squabble over the details, and debate over the specifics of the theory of evolution itself, all in blindness to the greater motive in this as in many cases; to degrade and destroy faith in God. But the response of the Christian must be the same as Christ’s response to humanity.: God’s grace, Christ’s sacrifice and the Spirit’s gift now and in eternity. This is the only answer that can truly satisfy man’s ultimate plight in life, and it should be the first one we offer up.
